Hey there! If you’re looking to set your desktop mail client software as your default email shop, you’ve come to the right place!!

Emails can be configured on various email clients such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc.

The mail clients listed below contain instructions on how to setup your mail account for the mail clients specified.

Whether IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is better than POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) depends on your specific needs and preferences. Both protocols are used for email retrieval, but they have some key differences:

1. Email Access:

IMAP: It allows multiple devices to access the same mailbox simultaneously. This means that if you read, delete, or mark an email as read on one device, those changes will be reflected on all devices connected to the same IMAP account.

POP3: It typically downloads emails to a single device, and by default, removes them from the server. This means that once an email is downloaded, it is usually no longer available on the server.

2. Storage:

IMAP: Emails are stored on the mail server, and the client devices synchronize with the server. This can be advantageous if you use multiple devices to access your email because you can access the same set of emails from any device.

POP3: Emails are downloaded to the device, and unless you specifically configure it to leave a copy on the server, they are typically removed from the server. This can lead to issues if you want to access your emails from different devices.

3. Connection:

IMAP: It requires a constant internet connection to access emails since the emails are stored on the server.

POP3: Once emails are downloaded, you can read them without an internet connection.

4. Backup:

IMAP: Since emails are stored on the server, they are often considered more secure in the event of a device failure. However, it also means that if the server experiences issues, your access to emails may be affected.

POP3: Emails are stored locally, which can be advantageous for backup purposes. However, if the device fails or is lost, you may lose access to your emails unless you have a backup.

In summary, IMAP is generally considered more suitable for users who access their email from multiple devices and want their email data to be synchronized across all of them. POP3 may be more suitable for users who prefer to download and store emails locally on a single device. The choice between IMAP and POP3 depends on your specific requirements and how you prefer to manage your email.
